BLACK WOMEN WHO WERE INNOVATORS IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY

As Black History Month comes to a close and International Women’s Month begins, we want to celebrate Black Women who were innovators and pioneers in the beauty and wellness industry! Read through this article to learn more about Lyda Newan - who invented the hairbrush as we know it, and fought for women’s rights, Annie Turnbo Malone - a chemist who revolutionized the beauty industry and became a philanthropist, and Madam C. J. Walker - who built a beauty empire, changed the landscape of the hair care industry, and supported a vast number of causes!
We also want to remind our community, that education, unlearning, relearning, and advocacy is not just something you do once a year. Let’s keep this energy and education up all year!
